​I walk around the front courtyard while I greet everyone that shows up with either family, friends, or lovers. I check out the booths where some humans and supernaturals are working. Some have baked goods; others are jewelry for both species. There are even some booths that are protesting things that involve the school or saving the planet and certain animals. Those two booths are run by humans, while most of the others are run by supernaturals.

“Hello, Princess Thelia. How are you tonight?” I heard Sabrina ask from behind me.

I turn around with a smile and give her a hug before I look her over. “You look good. I see the parents are finally putting meat on your bones, missy. I'm as good as can be, but how are you and the family? You’re making sure to keep an eye out for Altair, right?” I ask Sabrina when I pull away from the hug and link my arms with her while I continue my rounds.

“My parents almost didn’t let me come here. I convinced them to show up and meet you. I told them how you saved me and how Lazar is your mate. But yes, I barely sleep at night while I guard my parents and the property,” Sabrina whispers when we walk up to a booth with supernatural necklaces.

“Hi, I was wondering. Do you have a necklace to warn you if an intruder steps foot on your property?” I ask the warlock who is working the necklace booth.

“Princess, no, don’t do that for me,” Sabrina hisses.

“No, but I can change one of these. Who is this for? I ask because I have to change the necklace or bracelet to the person’s magical signature.” The warlock asks with a smile.

“It’s for her; she’s barely sleeping, and I worry for my friend’s health. I would like the necklace to glow and warn her when someone is not welcome on her land. How soon can you have it made tonight? And how much?” I ask when I pull Sabrina to my side.

The warlock looks at her up and down with hunger. “For you, beautiful, it’ll be free as long as you let me take you on a date,” the warlock says.

Sabrina blushes before agreeing to his deal. I watch him pick a necklace and take her hand. The necklace glows gray before settling back down. He clips it around her neck and starts whispering in her ear. I smile and tiptoe away because I’m not going to be that person and block their new romance. I walk out to the middle of the party and look around with a smile because everything came out beautifully as the string lights shine brightly. The crisp air kicks up a bit as I hold my dress down, but my sun hat blows off my head and flies off.

“Crap!” I curse as I chase after it.

I watch my hat get blown over by the cake table where it finally stops. I sigh out in relief and bend down to pick it up.
